Bari by car

Bari faces Greece across the water, a working harbour whose tangle of alleys in the old quarter gives way to Murat’s grid of shops and promenade. Ferries leaving for the Balkans keep the quays busy through the night.

Driving in Bari

Bari is reached by A14, SS16 Adriatica and SS96. Parking in the centre is paid and marked by zone. Streets in the old centre are narrow, a smaller car is easier.

Where to park

Blue-zone street parking (ZSR) is paid, except on Sundays and public holidays, when only specially signed parking islands still charge. Park & Ride lots at Vittorio Veneto in the north, Pane e Pomodoro in the south and Largo 2 Giugno include a shuttle bus ticket into the centre and back.

Arriving by road

Drivers arriving on the A14 from the north leave it at the Bari-Nord toll booth and join the SS16 ring road, signposted towards Brindisi-Lecce-Taranto. From the south the exit is Bari-South, where signs for the San Nicola Stadium lead onto the same ring road.

From the airport without a car

Bari Karol Wojtyła Airport has its own rail stop, Bari Aeroporto, with direct trains to the main Bari Centrale station. Local bus 16 also runs from the airport to Bari Centrale, leaving beside the entrance to the train stop, and a separate airport shuttle bus covers the same route.
