Which food delivery apps take cash?

Notice what is missing: a single app where cash is guaranteed. Places that deliver for cash are usually stores that run their own delivery, or restaurants that opted in on a platform. Searching an app’s feed for the word “cash” will not help, because none of the services publishes a filter for it.

Does Uber Eats take cash?
Uber Eats does, but only where Uber has switched it on: its U.S. terms say cash payments are available in select cities.[1] If your city is on the list, you choose cash as the payment method when you place the order, and from that point the order is cash-only. Neither Uber nor the courier can switch it to another method afterward.
The rules around a cash order are stricter than for a card. Any tip for the courier must be given in cash too. Couriers may not carry change, so if exact change is not available you receive the difference as Uber Cash in your account, which you may only use for Uber purchases. Refunds on a cash order come back the same way, as Uber Cash, unless the law or Uber decides otherwise.
Unpaid money does not disappear. If you hand over less than the total, you remain liable for the rest, and a large balance can stop you from placing new orders until you pay it with a digital method or on your next order. Uber can also cap the value and frequency of cash orders, and anything above the cap requires a digital payment method.

Does DoorDash take cash?
DoorDash accepts cash only on a narrow set of orders: DoorDash said in March 2023 that cash is accepted for select DoorDash Drive orders and not for orders placed through DoorDash Marketplace.[2] Drive is the service that lets a restaurant use DoorDash couriers for its own orders, and restaurants choose whether to enable Cash on Delivery.
Where it is enabled, it is popular. In the same announcement DoorDash reported that nearly 20% of pizza orders fulfilled through Drive with the feature on in the United States were paid with cash, and it describes shops from regional pizza chains to family-run Chinese restaurants using it. Couriers opt in to these orders and can switch the setting off at any time.
For the customer, the practical rule is exactness. DoorDash asks customers to have the exact total plus tip ready, and advises couriers to carry $10-15 in small bills in case they do not.[3] If a customer is short, unavailable or refuses to pay, the courier is told not to collect the cash, and the order may be discarded.

Does Grubhub accept cash?
Grubhub publishes no diner-facing cash policy, so treat cash on Grubhub as a restaurant-by-restaurant question you answer at checkout. If cash appears in the payment options for that restaurant, it is available; if not, it is not.

- Stay reachable. A courier who cannot find you at the door is told to discard a cash order on DoorDash, and on Uber Eats any unpaid portion stays on your account.
