DoorDash vs Postmates used to be a comparison of two rival delivery apps. In 2026 it is not, and the most useful thing a comparison can do is separate what Uber’s own pages confirm about Postmates from what is still unclear, then set that against what DoorDash publishes. What is Postmates now?
Uber’s help pages say Postmates and Uber Eats have joined forces. The courier FAQ says delivery requests switched to the Uber app as of June 7, 2021, and that delivery people had to link their account to Uber to keep delivering.[1] It also says that as of August 9, 2021, Postmates accounts can no longer be linked to Uber accounts, so anyone who wants to deliver with the Uber app needs a new account.
For customers, the same FAQ says you log in with the phone number you used to sign up, after linking your Postmates account to an Uber account or creating a new one. The brand has not gone dark. Postmates.com has an ordering page for food, drinks and groceries, a delivery address box and sign-in links.[2] That shows the site exists. What does DoorDash offer instead?
DoorDash describes itself as an on-demand delivery platform that connects customers with local restaurants, grocery stores and retailers, ordered through its app or website.[3] Its product pages list restaurants, grocery, convenience, retail, alcohol, flowers and pet supplies, plus DashMart, its own convenience and grocery store.
For members, DashPass is a subscription with $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees on eligible orders. DoorDash lists it at $9.99 per month or $96 per year, plus tax. Those prices come from DoorDash’s page and can change. The same page says alcohol delivery is available in eligible markets, with customers required to be 21 or older and show valid ID, and that delivery hours depend on restaurant and store availability, with many cities offering options open until late at night.

Which is better, Postmates or DoorDash, for customers?
People ask whether Postmates or DoorDash is better, and whether Postmates is better than DoorDash. No official source answers it, because the apps no longer sit side by side in a simple way: DoorDash is its own marketplace, while Postmates sits in Uber’s system. The practical test is to enter your address in each and compare the same order: the restaurants and stores available, the delivery fee, the service fee, the estimated time and the tip.
Delivery hours, available stores and fees differ by city on both, so a result from another city is not evidence for yours.
Postmates vs DoorDash pay: what can you compare?
For couriers, Postmates vs DoorDash pay is no longer a like-for-like question. Uber’s help page says Postmates delivery requests moved to the Uber app, and it describes promotions that vary week to week by customer trends and app usage in your city.
DoorDash publishes its Dasher pay model. Pay has three parts: base pay, promotions and tips. Base pay does not change with the tip, 100% of tips go to the Dasher, and the offer amount on the acceptance screen is the minimum guaranteed amount.[4] Weekly direct deposit covers deliveries from Monday to Sunday, and daily cash-out options may carry a fee.
