A spur road from junction 9A of the M23 leads to the airport, and the M23 meets the M25 further north. The A23 also serves it, running from Horley and Redhill in the north to Crawley and Brighton in the south, while the A217 leads north to Reigate.

Gatwick Airport railway station stands next to the South Terminal on the Brighton Main Line, with Southern, Thameslink and Gatwick Express trains calling there. Thameslink carries on north to St Pancras International. Local buses, including Metrobus Fastway on a partly guided busway, run from the terminals to Caterham, Horsham, Redhill, Horley and Crawley.
