Where to park
Parking in the centre is extremely expensive, and Mount Pleasant Car Park, a short walk out, is the cheaper alternative. A park and ride scheme is meant to give easy access to the city centre.
Arriving by road
Arriving from the south means crossing the Mersey by the two road tunnels from Birkenhead and Wallasey or by the Mersey Gateway and Silver Jubilee bridges, and every crossing is tolled. The tunnels have a toll booth, but the bridges are e-toll only, paid online through Merseyflow before the next midnight to avoid a penalty.
From the airport without a car
From the airport, bus 500 is the main tourist link to the city centre, with limited stops, while the 82A runs straight to the Paradise Street interchange. The 80A and 86A also stop at Liverpool South Parkway station, where trains carry on to the city centre, a better bet when road traffic peaks.
