“Don’t be afraid to take a chance”
This is what Los Angeles native Darrell Thomas, who was homeless just three years ago, said when we had amoment to speak with him about his story and recent success in the ridesharing industry.
After being jobless, homeless, and hopeless, Thomas, 32, a Los Angeles native, needed direction. In terms of supporting himself, he wasn’t sure what else there was for him to do…until he found HyreCar.
“I always thought that driving for Uber would be cool and an easy way to make some money, but never thought it was an actual possibility because I didn’t own a car. One of my friends told me about HyreCar and ever since then I have been able to get on my feet and now I am in the best financial position I’ve ever been in.”
Once he received his drivers license, Thomas signed up as an Uber driver and saved up enough money to start with a two-day rental from HyreCar. He parlayed that into a few more rentals, which has allowed him to continue driving with HyreCar ever since.
“The transition from car to car is so simple. When I first started driving, HyreCar made it so easy for me to try out several different types of cars in order to find out the exact type that I wanted.”
Thomas started as an UberX driver in a 2014 Toyota Prius and was extending his rental day to day, slowly increasing his earnings every week. Now he is currently driving a 2016 Lexus and is making around $1200 every week, driving for Uber Select.
“No matter how tough life can seem, there are always ways to create something better for yourself. I still don’t know where I would be today without HyreCar.”
* This is a real life story, however the name has been changed to protect the privacy of the HyreCar driver.
